Jan Reetze, born in Hamburg (Germany) under the star sign of the Bat, ascendent Cemetery Cat. In the dim and distant past industrial clerk for a short time, traineeship at a sound recording studio, later on degree in sociology, political science, journalism and systematic musicology at the University of Hamburg; Ph.D. in 1992. Freelance writer since the eighties; publications in literary journals, several radio features for NDR Radio, books as well as film and TV screenplays, besides this translations and copyediting for CD booklets, expert opinions etc. Freelance marketing and PR for a couple of independent record labels especially for the Electronic and Gothic scene. Between 2004 and 2007 managing partner of Sternklang Musik oHG in Tornesch near Hamburg (music publishing and audio book production). Since 2008 living as author and translator in Pittsburgh (PA, USA). Main subjects: European and American radio and TV systems; media and music industry; media history; music publications; theater.

Jan Reetze, geboren in Hamburg unter dem Sternzeichen Fledermaus, Aszendent Friedhofskater. In grauer Vorzeit kurz Industriekaufmann, absolvierte ein Praktikum in einem Tonstudio, studierte später Soziologie, Politikwissenschaft, Journalistik und Systematische Musikwissenschaft an der Uni Hamburg; Promotion 1992. Freier Autor seit den achtziger Jahren; Beiträge für Literaturzeitschriften, diverse Radio-Features für den NDR sowie Bücher, Film- und TV-Stoffe, daneben auch Textübersetzungen und -lektorate für CD-Booklets, Gutachten etc. Marketing- und Pressearbeit für einige Independent-Plattenlabels insbesondere der Elektronik- und Gothic-Szene. 2004 bis 2007 geschäftsführender Gesellschafter der Sternklang Musik oHG in Tornesch bei Hamburg (Musikverlag und Hörbuchproduktion). Lebt seit 2008 als Autor und Übersetzer in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania, USA). Arbeitsschwerpunkte: Europäische und amerikanische Radio- und TV-Systeme; Medien- und Musikindustrie; Mediengeschichte; Musikpublikationen; Theater.
